Xbox 360 is da shat.. Way better than ps3.. Live may cost like $50 a year but at least it’s ALWAYS working.. Plus I like the controller alot more than ps3. You should definitely switch dude

well i guess we lost another psn member :( also to the person who commented that live is better ten psn your live went out for 2 week in 2008 the same as psn you stuck up *****

It sounds as if you don’t really have a choice.
Ideally you’ll want to keep the PS3 and get an Xbox. But if you can’t afford to and you don’t have any real attachment to any PS3 exclusives, then go ahead and get a 360.
Not sure about the thought behind the memory unit… if you take your HD over to friend’s house, that means your friend will have to sit and watch you play because he won’t have access to his console if you are using it. It would make more sense to get a new slim model which you can easily carry over to their house and borrow a TV; that way you can actually play together either via system link or party up over Live – remember that the slim has inbuilt wireless.

    Good Choice!

It sounds like Xbox is the right choice for you then.

PSN was hacked… and Xbox Live was down for about 2 weeks back in 2008 (something people conveniently seem to forget when knocking PSN… lol). Online networks have outages, no matter who is running them.
That aside, if online multiplayer with friends is something you’re specifically looking for in a console, and all of your friends of 360s, you don’t really have much of a choice. Either get a 360, or get some new friends. ;)
You will not be able to swap a used PS3 for a new 360 Elite… but you might find a used one. I would start by looking/posting on Craigslist.
